Welcome to my Art Therapy practice

Integrating a trauma informed approach to
Art Therapy that includes Internal Family Systems (IFS),
Relational Mindfulness and Mindfulness and Compassion
for Pain and Illness.

Supporting clients, patients and carers to develop
their own skills to navigate life challenges with greater
awareness, perspective and choice within and beyond the
therapy session.

Since completing my Masters training in 2010, I have worked as an art
therapist, primarily supporting individuals, carers and families living or
coping with the effects of life limiting or life threatening illness and injury.

I am a BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) registered
Private Practitioner running a practice from my art therapy studio in
Lewes, East Sussex. I work primarily with creatives who choose to engage
with therapeutic work through the creative process of art therapy.

For over 12 years I have provided individual and group art therapy
services to cancer patients as part of the Cancer Psychological Services
team at Barts Hospital in London, the Marie Curie Hospice in
Hampstead, London, St Peter & St James Hospice in Chailey, West
Sussex, and the West Sussex branch of the MNDA (Motor Neurone
Disease Association).

The Pandemic resulted in the closure of hospice day centres,
leaving many day patients at home and isolated, without the
invaluable support network of the weekly art therapy group. In
response to this, I co-developed, as part of a PhD research study,
an approach to offering on-line art therapy to hospice and palliative
care groups. The feedback has been resoundingly positive.
Participants report that the levels of sharing, support and their
capacity to engage therapeutically with the art making process
has not reduced as a result of the on-line platform. In fact, this has
enabled individuals who were previously too unwell to attend the
day centre, the chance to join the on-line group.

How I work

Underpinned by psychodynamic theory, I facilitate self awareness
from a place of not knowing, with the belief that the client is the
expert of their own subjective experience which can be expressed
both verbally and through the creative process of the art making.
My integrative approach enables me to work with flexibility to meet
the specific needs of each individual.
My intention is to offer a safe and supportive space that allows for
each individual to work at a pace that feels right for them.

When I am not working

When I am not working with clients and patients, I dedicate
time for my personal art making practice, which includes clay sculpting
of the human form, painting in nature and oil painting which I greatly
value and enjoy.

I also enjoy leisure cycling and getting away in my campervan!

I offer a 20 minute on-line consultation at no charge.

Our initial contact helps us to briefly explore
what support you are seeking and to arrange a
